I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

XBOne... fixed.To everyone who says picking on Microsoft for their consumer unfriendly bullshit was "being unnecessarily mean," take a look at this. Don Mattrick just announced that Microsoft is back peddling with the XBOne, removing the disastrously awful features we've been bashing them for trying to inflict on us.
    Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.
    For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

I've got two news for you guys today though: one bad news and one good news. Let's start with the bad news.

Dekalb Market

OK, I've got a bit of a sinus infection, so I'm shutting down Izile's Oddities on etsy a day early to have more time to prep for the Dekalb Market in Brooklyn this Saturday (Dec 10th!)

Had to come home early from work yesterday, and had an extremely rough and broken night of sleep.

If I can get myself feeling just a bit better, since it is sunny out (though, damn, still 40's all day), I'll try and get to the Post Office to mail things that have already been purchased.

I started popping zicam at the first sniffle, and have been diligent with it, the hot tea w/honey, and lots of comfort food.  I'm already feeling much better this morning than I did yesterday - but I'm still a giant mucus-head with what feels like a brick inside my ear.

Thanks for understanding, and please be patient.

Also, keep an eye open.  Anything/everything that does not sell at the Dekalb Market this Saturday may end up as part of a monster "clear house so Izile can have money for the last few Christmas presents!"  However, I'm really hoping Saturday will go well, and there will only be a few things left to put on super-sale Sunday/Monday

And (insert chosen deification here), I hope I'm at least 90% better by Saturday.

I think set up is at 9am, so open may be 10 or 11am, and I think it goes until 7pm. I'm making a bunch of stuff that will only be available in person (can't sell online due to shipping issues - like my giant Patron bottle margarita bath salts!)
