The Snow Princess - Aquamarine and Silver Ring

Aquamarine, the birthstone of March. It is in the beryl family, along with its greener sibling, the Emerald, and is about a 7.5 on the Moh's hardness scale. It is associated with the element of Water and the "planet" of the Moon. It is a stone of peace, calm and courage, as well as protection and introspection.

This ring shows off a gorgeous 7 x 7 mm princess cushion cut Aquamarine that comes in just under 1 carat in weight. Like all aquamarines, you can see the signs of dichroism (showing different shades/colors due to angle and light). The first picture, taken inside, shows a deeper more blue-tone, while some of the outside shots in the snow show a lighter more grey-green cast depending on angle. This stone, depending on lighting, can appear anywhere between a very pale grey to light blue, to light blue-green.

To really show off the stone, I kept the setting very simple and classic, to really let the stone do all the talking. The setting is .925 Sterling Silver and is a size 6.
